Each year, the HCS Elementary school students participate in the Young Authors contest. Each student will create and publish a book to be judged by a panel of teachers. Students who receive highest honors move on to the Regional level with the opportunity to meet an Author.

DRAMA
During the school year, the HCS Elementary students have the opportunity to participate in various Drama activities, such as short plays acted out during weekly Worship time, and recitals of Poems during monthly PTO meetings.
In addition, the HCS Secondary school puts on an annual play with a Christian theme. For more information, click here.
music
Elementary students at HCS not only attend Music classes, but also have the opportunity to participate in Bell Choir. Bell Choir practice is coordinated as an after-school activity.
The Secondary students at HCS may participate in Choir or Worship Band as part of their Elective Curriculum. Worship Band members provide music at weekly Worship. The Choir sings at various HCS functions, as well as travels during the year to sing at venues such as the Topeka Library and the State Capital building.
