PRESCHOOL EDUCATION

Pre-Kindergarten meets
Monday through Friday. The day begins at 8:00 a.m. Half day students are dismissed at 12:00 p.m., full day students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

The HCS Pre-Kindergarten program will provide your child with an educational foundation important for success in kindergarten.

Using A Beka curriculum, students will receive instruction in Phonics, Reading, Writing, Language Development, Number Concepts, Bible, Art, Drama, and Music. Most students will be able to read by the end of the Pre-Kindergarten program.

READING AND WRITING

Reading is taught using the intensive phonics based A Beka program. Students will complete readers that use very simple words and do not press them to read difficult words until they are ready. This allows them to progress according to their individual reading abilities. Students practice writing skills using activities that reinforce the phonics and numbers lessons the students have learned.

BIBLE

​

Students will have daily Bible lessons with corresponding activity pages to reinforce the lesson learned. Some of the stories taught throughout the year are: Creation, Heaven, The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, Zacchaeus, and the First Christmas.
