KINDERGARTEN EDUCATION

The HCS Kindergarten program builds on the skills developed during preschool. Students receive instruction in Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, Music and Movement, and Bible. Students also have the opportunity to serve the community and put into action the lessons learned during Bible time through annual community service days.

Kindergarten meets
Monday through Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

READING

Using the A Beka phonics based reading program, students will develop lifelong reading skills. Working at their individual reading ability, students continue this step-by-step reading program that combines readers and workbook skills to ensure continued growth.

READING AND WRITING

Reading is taught using the intensive phonics based A Beka program. Students will complete readers that use very simple words and do not press them to read difficult words until they are ready. This allows them to progress according to their individual reading abilities. Students practice writing skills using activities that reinforce the phonics and numbers lessons the students have learned.

BIBLE

Students learn daily lessons on the stories of Genesis and the life of Christ. Workbook pages reinforce the lessons learned.

Children should be 5 years old by September 1 to attend Kindergarten.

MUSIC

The HCS Elementary Music program provides opportunity to reinforce several areas of development.  Emphasis is placed on expressing love for God through our love for music, good posture, body control, harmony, rhythm, form, and unity. Students are encouraged to train and develop their hearts and God-given gifts to their fullest potential so they will be ready for whatever God may call them to do.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Elementary Physical Education program provides the opportunity to reinforce teamwork and lifetime fitness skills.  Through activities and team games, students will develop skills regarding movement and fitness.
